Freedom of choice! Wisdom to use it!
Should have, could have, would have...but, didn't? Have you thought this phrase to yourself or about someone else regarding a missed opportunity in life? I certainly know I have. But hey, if not for your experiences of yesterday, you would not be who you are today! Right? And how successful has that been for you? How happy has that made you? What is your happy? Are you better today than you were yesterday? Or at least in a better mindset? Depends how you think you are doing in life. So regardless of yesterday, let's focus on "right now" shall we?
Right now, like RIGHT NOW, no... wait for it... NOW! "Now" is this precise moment and “now” will be here in 1 second and "now" is gone the next second. The beauty in this design of time is we as humans can continue what we were doing one second ago or start over one second from now. Brilliant! That is freedom to choose! Just keep something in mind for me, there is no such thing as a missed opportunity, this is due to one fact... someone else will eventually take it. So why all this blundering “NOW”?
I am challenged each day to be a better version of me than the day prior. Another word for challenged is opportunity and another name for opportunity is choice and that choice is always in the “NOW”. When I wonder if I can do something or not do something 99% of the time I am right in the outcome. Suffering is optional and I can choose to dwell with the internal struggle of deciding to do that thing or actually position myself to do it. One thing truly stops me from doing that thing and it lies between my ears. Doing something and it be wrong is typically better than doing nothing at all. Just as in sales for every no you get, you are one step closer to a yes!
I encourage you do this with me.
Take a self inventory regarding the choices you have made to get yourself to this “now”.
Now one second has passed, invest in your next step… “now”.
Make a list of a handful of purposeful wants, desires, projects or relationships you want to begin differently or begin for the first time.
Next to each write only one action to reflex progression towards the end in mind of each item on your list. AKA how do you accomplish this. This is something you will choose to do. Make it a small beginning step, but something, don’t think to long about it!
Now close your eyes and drop a finger on the paper. What item did it land on in your list? Guess what, your freedom to choose was just chosen for you. Your first actual investment opp is under your finger!
Do it “now”! Time and life is the only things lost that cannot be regained. And we are stronger than we perceive! If you don’t believe me, try it?
I trust this at least gives us all something to reflect on and inspire us to be better tomorrow than we were today! Remember our youth will become a direct reflection of what we are “now”! Be brave, be bold and be awesome!

Being human is now a liability not an asset?
It’s a shame humans invest time in feelings of obligation that all humans need soothed in individual ways after ones own opinion is shared. One man or women can not take an honest approach / stance to a challenge and share their views outside his or her own circles or they will certainly be in a crossfire of attitudes and allegations! It’s becoming very challenging to inspire positive movement without going on a hot grill next! How can the human experience continue to improve through history ... if actually being human is now a liability?
I believe in the ideas and more importantly… the practice of respect, promise, commitment, value and belief in God. If one or certainly more of these pieces are disconnected in any one way, the balance of “your character” is unbalanced. Now the question becomes how do we counter balance to regain a balance of all essential virtues. For example, if I lie to my wife (who would do that…right?) I have unbalanced my commitment, respect, promise and value of my wife, not to mention… God. Seems harsh… well, how serious are you on becoming better tomorrow than you were today? Yes, there is a severity spectrum on lies, but they are all called lies.
We are human and imperfect in every way compared to someone else in that same category. However we are all geniuses and we are all idiots… in something. We are not perfect. Yes, we know this, we have heard this and some of use have become complacent and lazy because of it! What do I mean? Well there is a line in the sand that must be drawn when it comes to respect, promise, commitment and values. Do you value your family? Sure you do! Well what do you value about your family? Look at the categories from above and answer these questions on family. At what action would you not be committed to your family? At what action would you break a promise to your family? What action would define disrespecting your family? Are you with me? You the individual gets to choose the severity of the action that is “the line in the sand” of breaking one of these values you chisel in stone for your family. Define it, share it and truly value it!
I believe we have become confused within the human experience when we focus so much brain power, time, and priority on the mechanical things. For example, we spend more time searching amazon for crap we think we need then we invest in thinking about what to make for dinner! By dinner time we have wasted so much time complaining to others about what we can not influence vs. doing what we can control! That’s when Dino the Dinosaur frozen fish sticks go into our growing children’s bellies. We need to reconnect with natures umbilical cord and get our hands dirty. No not necessarily literailly (although that would be best). What I mean is we need to invest our time in using our opposable thumbs and that mass between our ears and invest in things that matter. What do we actually have impact on, influence over, and is purposeful? Well for one our attitudes and secondly what we feed ourselves and those we love. What more literally down to earth thing can we do then feed our gut microbes the best possible fuel we can? For heavens sake it’s what will keep us alive and healthy!
I never thought twice about what I ate, until, we had children then researched and educated myself on both ends of the food system. I made a choice and that decision came from education and a free will to choose. We just happened to decide to grow it for ourselves and then others! Never regret the decisions you have made to this date, for in fact its what has gotten you here. Only regret the poor decisions you might make disregarding what education, experience and common sense tells you is wrong. Then be human enough and strong in your character to bounce back better in order to erase the regret from your purposeful time.
I encourage all to continue on with your human experience and remember to always remain human. God has given all of us a free will to choose and I only ask we know why the specific choices are chosen. Remember the story of the grand daughter who always cut her chicken in half before cooking it? Her friend asked her why do you always cut your chicken in half. She indicated it was the way her grandmother taught her. Little did she know her grandmother did so solely because she only had a pot big enough for half a chicken. Let’s not limit ourselves solely by the size pot we are given but be driven enough to explore a better version of ones self, others and society.
Let us all continue to be human for humanity’s sake and our own!

What is “Pastured” and a little on how we are different.
We hear all the time in our conversations, So you’re organic? Aw, you have free range chickens, you have grass fed chickens, your a tree hugger, do you feed grain to your cows, what’s the cattle market prices now? All these questions/assumptions are the initial perception of what we do…and you know folks, perception is reality to the individual doing the perceiving. So what I would like to do is share a little of what we do? This is the basics. Certainly in a few typed words I can not explain everything that goes into managing a pastured based livestock farm. So again, I will give you just the jist! After the Covid-19 settles down and society finds it acceptable again to interact and exchange a common courtesy handshake we will officially be offering our synergy tours which take folks on a tour of the farm showing and explaining some of our management, methodology and the science behind why it works. But until then we will share from a minimum of 6 feet away through cyber waves.
What is pastured? We are a pastured based farm which means our animals are managed through grasses. It’s what they all get a chance to eat and we as the caretakers of the land manage to grow more and more of… grass. Intensive grazing is part of our daily. We do not put cows or sheep or chickens or hogs in one spot and leave them there to sleep in their own feces for a month, drink from the toilet or eat a piece of grass that just surfaced the soil. We mimic what these type animals would do in nature with electric fence and hard core management!
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET YOUR BED SHEETS CHANGED EVERY NIGHT? YEAH, I KNOW! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHOSE FROM A GOURMET SALAD BAR EVERYDAY WITH FRESHLY PICKED GREENS? HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW YOU WOULD BE TREATED LIKE THIS THE REMAINDER OF YOUR LIFE ON EARTH?
This is what we promise our animals that become your food. Can we not at least respect the gift of their exsisitance by putting them in an environment they can fully express their talents, skills and social practices Creation gave them? And surely, if we choose to pursue such a journey to commit to ownership of these animals and put them in a controlled space with fences, can we not simply take care of them? And most importantly if these animals are to feed our microbial gut microbes and build our muscles and make our brains perform like Creation intended, surely we feel it is important we steward the development of our living “to be” food with an abundance of pride and management that is unmatched. For Gods sake… we will eat these things! Ok Farmer Adam, you are getting off topic! Sorry, but not really.
“Pastured” is a farm that focuses its success or faliure on grasses and legumes. Pastured is also usually affiliated with rotational grazing of animals which means the animals leave the area they are on and move to new pasture that has had time to rest and recover. “Free range” does not indicate the animals are moved off of used space and moved to a new space and lost access to the old space. Free range simply means they have an option to expose themselves to the out of doors for a certain time during the day. It doesn’t quantify the space or the time.
Are we organic? No! We are beyond organic! Organic simply means what an animal is fed. The feed used or the grasses they eat have not been sprayed or treated with un approved organic chemicals. That’s it! It’s doesn’t include the way the animal was treated, was it moved to fresh grass, or did it drink from a toilet. Certified organic is only certifying the animal didn’t eat chemical laden feed. That’s it! At Kickin’ Grass Farm we go above and beyond the term “organic”. One of our goals is to be as sustainable as possible, meaning everything we need is here. There is no waste in nature and that is what we strive for. Everything can be an asset to something else and that something else is an asset to another something else and so on. Yes, it is a circle and we humans are the only thing that has ever broken the circle. We are land healers, we are observers of nature and try our best to mimic what it has to teach on a small parcel of land while growing protein packed herbivores and omnivores to sustain our bodies.
The gist. Through intensive management and working with nature we raise superior protein products we can deliver to your door! We are a farm you can visit (post the Covid 19 craziness) land managers and have animals with an immune system. We do not use chemicals or drugs and respect an honor what Creation has given us. We believe this food is the medicine you will never have to take!
Until next time… “Love all good things, observe more than speak, influence the youth, thank the elderly and may the sun shine upon your face, the wind be always at your back and may God bless you and keep you until paradise.”
